Splendid Sesann 3-seat sofa in brown dark brown leather

It is a first-generation three-seat Sesann sofa, designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina, Italy, around 1970.

The Sesann is famous for its sculptural silhouette and for the distinctive chrome tubular frame visible at the edges, which elegantly embraces the generously padded upholstery.

It is upholstered in a gorgeous original dark brown leather from the era, full-grain leather.

Launched by Cassina in 1969, the Sesann collection included a chair, a two-seat sofa, a three-seat sofa and a coffee table.

Its innovative combination of exposed steel frame and voluminous polyurethane foam cushions cemented the range as one of the most iconic representations of postwar Italian design.

The sofa is in excellent condition; the leather has no tears or rips, the upholstery is still excellent, and the frame is perfectly intact, and it still bears the Cassina mark under the base.

Finding an original period sofa with the original leather in this condition is nearly impossible to find on the market today.

Published in major design magazines, it is an Italian design icon and a piece of furniture and investment value, being also a first production piece.
