Gorgeous Art Deco WMF Myra Vase – Karl Wiedmann (ca. 1930)

A stunning, authentic cabinet vase from the iconic Myra Kristall series by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik).

This glass art masterpiece was designed around 1930 by the renowned technologist and designer Karl Wiedmann during the heyday of the Art Deco period.

The vase possesses the unique and highly sought-after optical properties characteristic of pure Myra glass. In direct light, the ultra-thin metal-oxide layer on the outside displays a breathtaking, iridescent 'oil slick' effect with deep tones of copper, gold and electric blue. When bright (back)light shines through the vase, the signature amber/honey-colored glass base shines beautifully.
The top rim, in line with the original production method, is cold-cut and smoothly ground, giving a subtle, silvery reflection. The vase is (as almost the entire Myra line at the time) unsigned, as they were only provided with paper labels back then. A guaranteed original top piece for the serious collector of early 20th‑century glass art.
