Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible 5-piece designer cookware set manufactured by OPA Oy (Mikkeli, Finland).
This is the iconic "TS-Series" (also known as the "Suomi" series), designed in 1970 by the world-famous Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva.
Special Features:
This is the ultra-minimalist, rare all-stainless-steel variant (no wooden or plastic handles). The handles are beautifully integrated, and the flat lids are cleverly designed so they can also be flipped over and used as serving trivets or plates. A true mid-century modern Scandinavian design classic!
Authentic 1970s Originals:
Please note that this is NOT the 2003 re-edition. These are the authentic historical originals from the 1970s, manufactured in the OPA factory in Mikkeli, Finland. They feature the thick, heavy base with a visible integrated aluminum core for optimal heat distribution.
The 5-piece set includes:
- 4 x Cooking pots in various sizes (each with its original stainless steel lid)
- 1 x Saucepan / Milk pan with long handle
Condition:
Great, age-appropriate vintage condition (please see photos). No major damage, no deep dents, and the stainless steel has a wonderful shine. Normal surface scratches and light wear from gentle use over the decades. Inside of the pots is clean.
Stove Compatibility:
Perfect for gas, electric, and ceramic (ceran) cooktops. Due to being authentic vintage originals from the 1970s, they are generally NOT compatible with modern induction cooktops.
