Christ the King, in a variant of the Eastern iconography of Christ crowned as King.
Christ appears facing forward, with a solemn expression and an elongated face.
He wears a large royal crown, richly decorated with gold and stones.
He is dressed in a regal mantle with abundant gold ornamentation.
In the right hand he makes the blessing gesture.
In the left he holds the Gospel.
The golden background and the decoration of crosses are characteristic of the Orthodox icon tradition.
The inscription that can be seen on both sides seems to be in Georgian script, which points especially to a Georgian origin or to a Georgian iconographic tradition.
