Olivetti Tropical portable typewriter designed by Ettore Sottsass, dating from 1970–1980, built in metal and plastic with mechanical components, model Tropical, 31 cm wide, 30 cm deep and 8.5 cm high, in excellent used condition with its original rigid Olivetti case.
Description from the seller
Olivetti Tropical, a vintage portable typewriter characterized by a compact design and by the distinctive color combination of light gray and dark gray, enhanced by the small orange element next to the designation “Tropical”.
The unit features an Italian QZERTY keyboard and preserves the original Olivetti hard case, an important element for both completeness and the preservation of the machine.
On the inner frame the serial number no. 8211634 is clearly present, photographed and documented.
The machine retains a pleasant aesthetic presence, typical of Olivetti portables from the second half of the twentieth century. There are normal signs of wear and age, both on the machine and on the case, consistent with the object's age.
An object that unites the history of writing, industrial design, and Olivetti collecting, also suitable as a decorative element for a study, bookshelf, or vintage setting.
The numerous photographs, including those of the internal mechanism, the serial number, and the case, constitute an integral part of the description and the condition of the lot.
