Vermeil silver paten – Maison Favier – 19th century
Paten in vermeil silver, adorned at its center with a finely engraved scene representing the Lamb of God (Agnus Dei), haloed and bearing the cruciform banner. The motif is set within an elegant quadrilobe and surrounded by the Latin inscription “PANIS VIVUS – AGNUS DEI” (“Living Bread – Lamb of God”), directly linked to Eucharistic symbolism.
The paten bears the Minerve mark, guaranteeing French silver, as well as the mark of Maison Favier, an important French religious silversmith house active in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Diameter: 16 cm
Weight: 140 g
Good overall condition, with signs of use, fine scratches and small pinpricks and occasional vermeil wear, visible in the photographs.
