Rare Mickey Mouse lusterware sugar pot from the 1930s - Dai Nippon (Japan) - Mint
An exceptionally rare and highly collectible porcelain Mickey Mouse sugar pot (including the lid) from the early 1930s. This piece features a beautiful pearl-like 'lusterware' glaze, iconic for the Japanese export porcelain of the period.
Produced under license in the early days of Disney merchandising. These sets were made in Japan for international importers (such as George Borgfeldt). The bottom bears the authentic, red hand-painted export mark "大日本" (Dai Nippon / Great Japan).
Because these items at the time were intended as children's tableware, they are now incredibly hard to find in good condition. Most remaining examples are heavily damaged or missing their lid. This particular piece is a dream for the serious collector.
