Extremely nice late-Neolithic perforated stone hammer-ax / battle-ax – ca. 2800–2000 BCE.
A very fine and compact perforated stone hammer-ax (haft-hole axe) from the Late Neolithic, typologically closely related to the Standvoetbekercultuur / Enkelgrafcultuur (ca. 2800 – 2000 BCE).
The tool is characterized by an asymmetrical, slightly descending edge, a domed back, and a heavy, blunt poll (hammer head). The shaft hole is expertly cylindrical drilled using a prehistoric bow drill and abrasive.
The object is in remarkably intact condition: the shaft hole shows no stress cracks or spalling, which is rare for stone tools of this age. Light, authentic ploughing marks are visible across the flanks, indicating a provenance as an agricultural find. No modern restorations or alterations.
