Description from the seller

Denmark – Rare large silver soup- / bowl ladle in Skønvirke style (Art Nouveau) – 1912 – 826/1000 silver – 186 grams – 35 cm

A monumental and heavy Danish silver service spoon / soup ladle in the characteristic Skønvirke style (Danish Art Nouveau / Jugendstil).

The ladle features a beautifully designed handle with typical organic Skønvirke motifs: stylized floral scrolls, curls and inlaid silver pellets (kugler). At the transition to the generous, round bowl there is a refined intermediate hinge ornament.

On the back of the handle is an authentic engraving: "Birgitte og Jens [...] 1890 - 22/11 - 1915". A silver wedding gift from 1915, manufactured and assayed in 1912.
