Dr. Merkle Atelier - Pitcher (2) - Porcelain

The items shown in the photos are decorative, collectible porcelain jugs with pewter lids, produced by the German artistic studio Dr. Merkle Atelier. These are the so-called Apothekerkrüge (pharmacy/medical jugs). They depict motifs related to the history of medicine and pharmacy:
The first jug is dedicated to Hippocrates (the inscription Hippokrates appears above him).
The second jug is dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian (Cosmas and Damian), who, according to Christian legend, were physicians and are patrons of apothecaries and medical practitioners.
The items come from an inheritance.
