AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Original Fon Vodun power figure with metal bindings and padlocks
This special rarity, this genuine Bocio figure, is a powerful, spiritual object in Benin, used in Vodun practices to provide protection and true healing or to influence spiritual forces. The Bocio figures are characterized by crusted surfaces, often made from organic materials such as blood and metal bindings as well as padlocks, which symbolically 'catch' and 'bind' energy. Their craftsmanship is intentionally raw and ritualistic and by no means kept purely aesthetic. The strong, intensive ritual use is evident on this Bocio figure, and it is precisely this fact that makes it a mysterious, hopeful, and stunning treasure.
