Spanish silver miniature sculpture depicting a felid in motion, made of .925 silver by a Spanish silversmith, dated 1940–1950, with dimensions 8.5 × 1.5 × 3 cm and a weight of 86 g, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Spanish silver sculptural miniature depicting a feline in motion.
Interesting figure created by a Spanish goldsmith, representing a feline of an undetermined species, modeled in a walking or stalking pose.
The sculpture features an elongated and muscular body, a long extended tail, robust legs, and an expressive head with prominent ears. The entire surface has been worked with numerous incised details that reproduce the fur and accentuate the anatomy and movement of the animal.
From its morphological characteristics, the figure may recall a puma, panther, or another big feline, although the artistic and stylized interpretation of the head does not allow a secure identification of a specific species. For this reason it is prudently attributed as a “feline,” without a specific zoological assignment.
The piece preserves contrasts of Spanish goldsmithing visible on the body. The marks show some wear and do not allow, from the available images, to identify the goldsmith with absolute certainty.
Origin: Spain
Material: silver
Authorship: Spanish goldsmithing
Era: 20th century
Representation: feline
Weight: 86 g
Length: 8.5 cm
Width: 1.5 cm
Height: 3 cm
Decorative and collectible piece, especially attractive for the detailed fur work, the expressiveness of the head, and the sense of movement achieved by the goldsmith.
Condition: good overall condition, with slight signs of use and patina appropriate to its age. The photographs are an integral part of the description.
