Old Kosmos Petroleum Lamp – hammered gilt copper and frosted opal globe engraved – circa 1895-1905

Charming table oil lamp dating from the Belle Époque, equipped with a Kosmos flat-welt burner. The reservoir features a rich relief floral and vegetal décor enhanced by original gilding, offering a very attractive decorative appearance.

The lamp is accompanied by its frosted opal globe engraved with a vegetal motif and its glass chimney. The burner bears the markings “Patent” and “Breveté S.G.D.G.,” characteristic of productions from the late 19th century.

Excellent general condition with an agreeable patina of age. Note a slight impact on the burner gallery as well as two small supporting lamellas broken, visible in the photographs. These defects are minor given the age of the object.

Elegant and authentic decorative piece, representative of the petroleum lamps used in bourgeois interiors of the Belle Époque.

Condition: Good overall, small discreet impact on the burner gallery.
Two small supporting lamellas of the globe broken on the upper crown of the burner.
These flaws remain minor and generally do not prevent the lamp from being displayed.
