Description from the seller
Beautiful Centerpiece / Fruit Bowl "Bambous et Étoiles" – Val Saint Lambert
Production Date / Era: Circa 1913–1915 (Art Nouveau Period / Edwardian Era).
Marking: Piece signed in relief on the bottom of the glass: "VAL ST LAMBERT BELGIQUE" (as visible in the macro image of the signature).
Materials: Upper dish in half-cut crystal (high-quality pressed and trimmed glass); central pedestal in worked cast metal (probably régule or antimony alloy with a dark antique patina).
Detailed Description: Elegant centerpiece consisting of a circular-topped bowl with a serrated and wavy rim. The glass body features geometric radial facets with star-shaped facets and lobes in relief ("bambous"). It rests on a central cylindrical column fixed to a tripod base in historicist/Art Nouveau style, richly decorated with volutes, foliage, and smooth oval relief medallions.
It is in very good structural condition, very solid; the crystal is truly excellent, with no flaws, chips, etc. It was much cherished. The metal part shows wear in the silvering, normal for a piece over 100 years old. The connection between the silvered metal base and the crystal bowl is a different-colored metal; to me it seems original and not a modified piece, and everything fits perfectly.
