Christ depicted in a half-figure, with a golden halo.
The halo bears the cross, a characteristic of representations of Christ.
The right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing.
In the left hand he holds a globe topped by a cross, a symbol of his sovereignty over the world.
On both sides of the head appear remnants of the letters IC XC, the Greek abbreviation of ΙΗΣΟΥΣ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ (Jesus Christ).
The combination of the dark mantle and the reddish tunic is very common in Christ’s iconography.

From the workmanship, drawing, and appearance of the panel, it is an icon of Russian tradition.
