Unisex necklace in solid silver with a central rigid pendant inspired by Techerot protective amulets, featuring a natural red carnelian cabochon of 6 ct, a 45 cm chain, and a total weight of 25 g, dating to the mid‑20th century Maghreb and showcasing refined urban craftsmanship.
Description from the seller
Excellent example of a Maghrebi ethnical jewelry necklace from the mid-20th century. The piece stands out for a large rigid central pendant typical of Techerot protective amulets. Unlike pieces from the deep desert, this piece reflects refined urban artisanal craftsmanship: it is completely sealed with a solid silver base that gives it robustness and consistency. Weighing approximately 25 grams. The front features elaborate geometric metalwork with a closed perimetral setting that holds a central cabochon of natural carnelian (red agate). The cord forming the necklace follows a very clean traditional symmetry, using red spherical translucent fused glass beads (historical trade beads from the Sahel region) interspersed with silver spacer cylinders engraved with incisions and small dark faceted beads. It retains its original hook clasp made of hand-braided wire. The back of the silver plate reveals meticulous burin-engraving work. It displays the iconic diamond motif (the protective eye of the Amazingh symbolism) and, just above this, two linear marks of manual micro-engraving. This subtle engraving was done by the artisan himself. A magnificent, authentic piece with a patina. It is shipped by insured mail within Spain according to its price value.
