Description from the seller
Antique Transformable Centerpiece Stand in 800 Silver and Glass – Italy, late 20th Century
Splendid and refined centerpiece stand for fruit or desserts of Italian manufacture, dating from the late 20th century.
The object stands out for its exceptional modularity: thanks to the refined threaded central pin and the rosette-shaped silver knob, the stand can be easily disassembled. The base can thus be transformed and used as an elegant single-flame candlestick in full Neoclassical / Empire style.
Characteristics and Historical Details:
* The Base (Candlestick): Made in solid silver, features a solid square base resting on four elegantly beaded scroll feet. The stem and base are decorated with classic geometric borders and beaded motifs typical of the era.
* The Plate: Pressed glass from the 1800s (consistent with the quality of historic French manufactories like Baccarat or Saint-Louis), decorated with a dense and luminous diamond-pave pattern and an elegant serpentine edge.
* The Stamps: On the square base the French assay marks are clearly impressed (established from 1838). In particular, the famous Boar Head mark (Tête de sanglier) can be seen, officially certifying the solid silver at a minimum fineness of 800/1000 for Paris manufacture.
Technical Specifications:
* Material: Solid silver 800 (structure and upper knob) and worked glass.
* Total height of the stand: 14 cm
* Diameter of the glass plate: 28 cm
* Weight of the silver: 146 grams (weight of the metal structure alone, excluding the glass plate).
* Overall total weight: 1850 grams (silver structure + glass plate).
* Era: 20th century
* Origin: Italy
Condition: Excellent overall condition consistent with the age of the object. The glass is intact, free of chips or noticeable inclusions, perfect.
The silver shows a beautiful patina of the era and the usual micro-scratches of time that testify to its authenticity. The stamps are partly worn by time but readable in their identifying lines.
An extremely elegant collectible piece, perfect both as an exhibition centerpiece and as a refined functional element for a prestigious table.
