An extraordinary and rare pair of wall sconces in gilded metal depicting winged dragons, crafted in the neogothic and historicist taste between the late 19th and early 20th century.

The sconces feature a substantial three-dimensional structure with a dragon body, spread wings, sculpted head, and upper scroll arms ending in two candlesticks. The construction, forged detailing, and the presence of the characteristic central square pin suggest a probable origin as antique wall candlesticks later adapted to electric lighting during the 20th century.

The execution is highly dramatic in effect and evokes medieval and heraldic decorations found in castles, historic residences, and noble dwellings. The pair comes from an old property in central Italy.
