C.C.T. & Co, Sheffield - Biscuit box - Silverplated - Victorian silver-plated

This is a very decorative antique Victorian silver-plated folding biscuit box, dating from around 1880.

The box has a simple, shell-shaped housing in a cast frame with prominently worked branches as supports. The original interior features elegant, hand-cut partitions.

The opening mechanism is as refined as the shell ornament. The box opens in two halves and is kept closed by beautiful, loose ring handles in the shape of a laurel wreath on top.

This splendid box is suitable for all kinds of goodies, from sweets and biscuits to fruit.

The partitions bear the inscription: C.C.T. & Co, Sheffield.
