Large Antique Oak & Brass Umbrella Stand / Wine Kan (XL - 58 cm) - France, circa 1900

Beautiful, monumental antique can of exceptional size (XL), made around the turn of the century (circa 1880-1920). This impressive piece is entirely handmade according to the traditional coopering technique, with solid oak staves and heavy, clean brass (yellow brass) hoops and handle.

Thanks to its generous height of no less than 57 cm and a diameter of 30 cm, this can is perfectly suited as an exclusive umbrella stand or cane holder in a stylish hall, or as an eye-catcher in a rustic or eclectic interior.

The object is in excellent, original condition with a beautifully weathered patina. The wood shows the characteristic natural dryness and signs of age on the inside and bottom, proving absolute authenticity (no modern reproduction). The construction is solid and the hoops sit perfectly tight. On the underside are old handwritten numbers/maker marks.
