An elegant and highly sought-after antique pillar scale in 'Eiffel style', dating from the second half of the 19th century. This historic shop or apothecary scale features a beautifully detailed, openwork black cast-iron column and the original brass pans.
Notably, this scale is delivered complete with the accompanying full set of solid brass weights.
The weights are officially stamped, among others, with the Dutch metrological mark 'W', certifying the weights legally and dating to the year 1863.
A splendid, historically valuable and fully functional collector's item that makes a stunning focal piece.

Dimensions of wooden weight block:
26 cm x 7 cm x 4 cm

1 kg, 500 g, 200 g, 100 g, 50 g (complete set, all stamped beginning with the letter W from 1863)
Condition: In beautiful, working antique condition with a wonderful patina gained with age on both the cast-iron and brass components. The calibration stamps and the year letter 'W' are clearly visible on the brass weights.
