Saint Pantaleon (Saint Panteleimon), Great Martyr and Physician.

The inscription in ecclesiastical Slavonic that appears on both sides reads approximately:
«Св. вмч. Пантелеимон»
= «San Gran Mártir Pantaleón».

Saint: Saint Pantaleón / Panteleimón.
Title: Great Martyr and Physician.
Epoch: he lived roughly between the 3rd and 4th centuries, during the Roman Empire.
Attributes: depicted as a young physician, wearing a tunic and a red mantle, and holding a case or box of medicines, his characteristic attribute.
Color red: alludes to his status as a martyr, killed for his Christian faith.
Tradition: he is one of the most venerated saints in the East as a protector of the sick and of physicians.
