Circa 1880, 19x26 cm.
"Kabyle beggars", a very beautiful period albumen print, in very good condition, with preserved contrasts, grayscale tones and detail levels from TB to TTB, attributed to Jean Garrigues.
The appeal of this print is that it is not mounted on an album page or cardboard backing, which is rare.
Captioned at the bottom left of the print, in the negative.
Rare, unposed subject, in situ.
Deserves framing.
Will be shipped with its neutral pH sleeve (ideal for a collection kept in good condition).
Jean Garrigues was active in Tunisia at the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century, in a context of photographic growth linked to the protectorate and the development of tourism.
