Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Pair of wall torches in polychrome wood, hand-carved and shaped with a gold leaf finish, in the Luigi XVI style, dating to 1900–1910 in Toscana, Italy; two fittings, 15 cm depth, 10 cm width, 35 cm height, gold colour, not in working order.
Description from the seller
Pair of wall torches with a single-light fixture in polychrome carved, turned and shaped wood.
Hand-applied gold leaf finish, showing an aged patina of time.
The base ends with a fully gilded bulbous, ribbed and grooved finial, from which the central turned body rises and is ivory-lacquered. The top of the torch holder culminates in a shaped, dish-like candlestick support, prepared to house the bulb. The structures are completed by crescent-shaped shade diffusers in pale cream stretched fabric, finished around the perimeter with a gilded passementerie cord. This type of lampshade, typical of period torchères in the Louis XVI style, allows light to reflect toward the wall, creating a soft and scenographic ambient illumination.
The torchères are in excellent overall conservational condition. The wooden framework is perfectly solid and free of structural defects; the pieces are already electrified with exposed external wiring, ready to be used.
