Magnificent and substantial desk inkwell dating from the second half of the 19th century, made in gilded bronze in the Louis XV taste. This piece stands out for the exceptional richness of its pierced decoration composed of rocaille scrolls, foliage, shells and finely chased floral motifs.
The pediment is topped by a central cherub and animated by winged figures and ornaments of great fineness, bearing witness to high-quality workmanship. The base rests on four feet decorated with mascarons and features an elegant raised vegetal decoration.
The inkwell is complete, preserving its two original articulated lids as well as its two removable inner cups in gilded metal. The hinges are functional and the whole presents a beautiful antique patina.
