Ming Dynasty Sancai Attendant on Lotus Throne – 14th to 17th Century AD
A Chinese Ming Dynasty sancai-glazed terracotta figure depicting a standing attendant elevated on a lotus-form throne, dressed in a long robe and tall headdress, with the hands positioned in front of the body. The figure preserves extensive green, amber-brown and cream glazing and shows numerous mineral deposits, earthen accretions and surface encrustations throughout. It is very well preserved and displays multiple visible signs of prolonged burial, including mineralization, adhered soil deposits and weathering consistent with long-term deposition underground.
