Wooden sculpture of Mary with the Christ Child in her arms. Mary is depicted standing and holds the child close to her.
The Christ Child holds a globe in his hand. The figures are rendered with clear, strong cut facets that remain visible in the faces and hands. Mary’s long cloak falls in deep folds along the body and gives the sculpture a strong vertical character. Executed in the woodcarving tradition of Val Gardena in South Tyrol.
Height approx. 36 cm; carved wood with a natural brown finish, unsigned, in good overall condition with light signs of age and two repairs on the back of the base.
