Madonna with Child under a canopy – carved oak – Belgium / France – 20th century
Professionally shipped – more than 950 five-star reviews worldwide.
Carved wooden wall panel with a crowned Madonna and the Christ Child. Mary stands on an architectural console and holds the child in her left arm. Above the figures is a richly carved Gothic canopy. The console and the canopy are decorated with openwork tracery and decorative motifs. The relief is applied separately on a long rectangular oak backboard and, in design, recalls late medieval ecclesiastical sculpture.
Height approximately 43 cm; carved oak, unsigned, in good overall condition with light signs of age.
