Christ Child with world globe and crown of thorns – probably Scheider – Germany – late 19th century

Beautiful polychrome porcelain figurine of the Christ Child, standing beside a world globe on clouds. Christ holds a gilded crown of thorns in the left hand and rests the right hand on the cross atop the globe, a foretaste of his later sacrifice.
The figurine is finely executed in soft pastel colors, with a light blue robe, pink accents and gilded details. The face is finely painted with blue eyes and pink cheeks. The globe is adorned with small gilded stars.
Probably manufactured by Scheider, Germany, late 19th century. At the bottom, the blue factory mark under glaze.
Height: approx. 24 cm. Good antique condition with normal signs of aging and use and locally slight wear to the painting and gilding.
