Refined and iconic table lamp model “Lisa,” designed by Gianni Cardile for Valenti, a historic Italian lighting manufacturer, and made in Italy in 1990.

An interesting example of late 20th-century Italian lighting design, characterized by a strongly architectural line and a sophisticated balance between aesthetics and functionality. Valenti’s official historical archive indeed identifies the model Lisa – Design Gianni Cardile, 1990, describing it as a low-voltage halogen lamp with dual light output, rotatable and fully adjustable.

The lamp features a circular black base from which the original articulated structure unfolds. The long tilt-adjustable arm is completed by the characteristic cylindrical counterweight, an element not only functional but decisive in the lamp’s aesthetics: by moving the arm, it is possible to noticeably modify the height, tilt, and projection of the light source.

The head, with its recognizable semicircular and aerodynamic shape, is also adjustable, allowing the light to be directed as needed. The result is an extremely dynamic lamp, capable of assuming different configurations while always maintaining an elegant and light silhouette.

Particularly successful is the contrast between the black structure, the metallic elements, and the silvered inner reflector. The mechanical system remains deliberately visible and becomes an integral part of the lamp’s aesthetic language, giving it that technical and almost “engineering” character typical of the best Italian design of the period.

The presence of the original marking constitutes an important identifying element and allows direct documentation of the model, designer, and production.

The lighting unit also bears the specifications Max 50 W – 12 V – GY6.35, corresponding to those reported in Valenti’s historical archive for the Lisa model.

Indicative dimensions: height approximately 79/80 cm; maximum extension width approximately 83 cm; base diameter about 20 cm. Being a lamp that is extensively articulable and orientable, height and overall footprint naturally vary according to the chosen position.

The lamp appears in good vintage condition, with normal and slight signs of time and use visible in the photographs. The structure retains its aesthetic presence well and the articulated mechanism allows the various adjustments provided by the project. Lamp tested and working, as documented in the photographs.

An object that goes beyond a simple desk lamp to become a true sculptural and graphic presence in space. Perfect above an important desk, a console, or a work table, but also particularly interesting in a contemporary, industrial, or minimalist environment, where the black structure can create a strong contrast with light-colored walls and surfaces.
