Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 1700, manufactured in 1981, a rare model in excellent physical condition and fully serviced, tested and working, weighing 10 kg, including power cord, with the serial number seen in the pictures.

Fully serviced (near) MINT rare Beomaster 1700 receiver.
The Beomaster 1700 would be the last Beomaster model not to use electronic controls for its main functions. It was an odd combination of striking cabinet design combined with fairly conventional technology, and remained in the range only for a short time.
Even though on the inside the Beomaster 1700 was controlled by traditional mechanical switches and controls, the designers still managed to make the operation of the various functions unusual and distinctive. The audio functions were operated by a rubber track on the left, the tuning functions by an identical one on the right. Along the bottom of the front panel were keys that when pressed engaged clutches and switches to couple the “tracks” to the displays (a sliding red light for each function visible on the glass panel in the centre) and the controls themselves. The arrangement could be likened to a simplified version of that fitted to the Beomaster 6000 4 channel, but without the motor or electromagnetic clutches.
The circuit was a strange mix of old and current ideas, the radio section for example used a range of modern European chips, whilst the amplifier reverted to the old AC coupled format that had previously been dropped with the introduction of the Beomaster 1500. Despite this, performance was reasonable and up to the standard required in the “audio” range.
The Beomaster 1700 could be used as the centrepiece of a complete system by adding Beogram 1700 and Beocord 1700. Recommended loudspeakers were the Beovox S 30, and a stand that would house all the equipment was available too. The Beomaster, Beogram, loudspeakers and stand were offered together as a package at a special price, this was known as “Beosystem 1700X”.
