Majolica tile – Jumping Hare in a Medallion – 17th century
Majolica square tile / tin-glazed polychrome earthenware with a hand-painted animal motif, particularly dynamic, depicting a hare (or rabbit) leaping to the right, head turned back.
The animal is depicted in manganese line with a yellow antimony fill, set amid a stylized landscape composed of blue flowers and tufts of grass. The scene is framed by a double circular yellow border. The corners are adorned with cobalt blue border motifs (Corner motifs).
