The Holy Family – polychrome porcelain – Germany – early 20th century

This sculpture shows Mary and Joseph lovingly guiding the young Christ. Mary holds his hand, while Joseph bears white lilies, symbolizing purity and his chaste marriage to Mary. Christ stands centered between his parents and extends his blessing hand. The relief with a cross on the front of the pedestal emphasizes the religious character of the scene.
The soft colors are complemented by gilded details on the clothing, veil, flowers and pedestal.
Height about 31 cm; in good overall condition with light signs of aging and wear and locally minor loss of paint and gilding.
