Description from the seller

Praying Mary – patinated plaster – France – late 19th / early 20th century

Professionally shipped – more than 950 five-star reviews worldwide.

This understated sculpture depicts Mary with folded hands and a lowered gaze. Her prayer pose and the heavy, falling cloak align with late medieval depictions of the Virgin, possibly originally part of a crucifixion group as Vierge de Calvaire.

The sculpture is a museum-grade plaster cast, produced by the Atelier de moulage of the former Musée de Sculpture Comparée in the Trocadéro in Paris. This atelier produced lifelike casts of important European sculptures for museum display, education and study.

Height approximately 51 cm; in good overall condition with normal signs of wear; at the bottom provided with a metal maker's plate “Atelier de moulage du Musée de Sculpture Comparée”.

Please view the photos carefully, they form part of the description.

Shipped with track & trace.
