Olympus PEN-EE Type 1 - c1961 | Half-Frame Viewfinder camera

This time’s offer features a particularly beautiful and well-working Olympus PEN-EE Type 1 from 1961, a half-frame camera.

This Point & Shoot camera, as they’re called, is in almost-new condition and perfectly functional.

The nice thing about this set is that it is fully complete, meaning: an original leather case with “Pen” pressed or embossed on it; a wrist strap so the camera can be carried, whether inside the case or not; an original Olympus lens cap; and last but not least an original Olympus 22.5mm Skylight 1A filter that is in as-new condition.

The camera belongs to the category of simple-to-use cameras with a zone system. This means the user no longer has to focus but only chooses among a few pictograms printed on the edge of the lens. Specifically:
Icon with 1 person: from 0.9 meters to 1.2 meters = Close-up.
Icon with 3 people: from 1.2 meters to 3 meters.
Icon with a mountain: from 3 meters to infinity.
So, very simple.

The Olympus f2.8/3cm lens is particularly sharp, free of scratches and cleaning marks, and has no fungus or haze inside.
The camera operates fully automatically and, depending on the shutter speed, automatically selects an aperture.

The viewfinder is exceptionally clear. When you look through the viewfinder in low light, a “red flag” appears, indicating that you should use a flash.
When shooting in sufficient daylight, the camera operates fully automatically.

The camera is highly regarded for its very compact housing, attractive design, light weight, sharpness, and color rendition, but also for the fact that this type of camera can make 72 exposures on a 36-exposure roll or 48 exposures on a 24-exposure roll…

Analog film photography has become a hype again among the younger generation. They want to recapture the feeling that photographers from the 1960s to the 1990s had—taking black-and-white photos and developing and printing them themselves on baryta or chamois paper…those were the days.
