Impressive Russian- Orthodox holiday icon with the Resurrection of Christ as the central scene, surrounded by an extensive range of religious scenes.
This particularly decorative icon is constructed according to traditional Orthodox iconography. In the central panel is depicted the Resurrection of Christ, while around it is a series of important Biblical and liturgical events and saintly scenes.
The many individual scenes are separated from each other by decorative frames. Notable are the golden background, colorful architectural elements, numerous saint figures and richly worked ornamentation. The various Cyrillic inscriptions give the work a distinctly Russian-Orthodox character.
Especially beautiful is the decorative surround with flower and leaf motifs, geometric patterns and small medallions. The combination of red, blue, green, white and gold creates a lively and highly characteristic appearance.
The icon is painted on wood and is in an authentic, lived-in condition. There are clear signs of age and use, including wear, craquelure and local paint loss. These traces contribute to the appearance and historical charm of the object.
