Description from the seller

An exceptional Italian figural coffee table from the mid-20th century, presumably from the 1960s, is offered.

The table consists of two elaborately worked kneeling supporting figures, which together carry a large clear-glass top. The figures are carved wood, darkly stained or patinated, and adorned with decorative gold-colored accents on the hair and draped garments. Several small gold-colored contact elements form the points of contact with the glass top.

Manufacturer / Designer: unknown Italian manufactory or unknown designer.

Origin: Italy.

Dating: approx. 1960s / mid-20th century.

Style: Hollywood Regency with Venetian or historicist-inspired figural elements.

Material: carved and stained wood with partially gold-colored or gilded surfaces; clear glass top.

Condition: good, age-appropriate used condition. The figures are fully preserved and show age- and use-related surface traces, abrasions as well as partial wear on the dark finish and on the gold-colored parts. No major structural damage to the figures is visible in the photographs. The glass top appears intact; minor age- and use-related surface traces may be present. The detailed condition is documented in the attached photographs and forms part of the description.

The sculptural composition with the two kneeling figures makes the table a distinctive statement piece of decorative Italian design from the mid-20th century.
