Important Massiv silver Chalice with Vermeil – Art Deco / Pure Neo-Gothic Style – French Goldsmith – Early 20th Century
Magnificent Massed silver Mass for Mass (inside the cup in vermeil), a masterpiece of French sacred silverware from the early 20th century. This piece stands out for its lines of rare elegance, at the crossroads of Neo-Gothic renewal and the modern geometry of the Art Deco period.
The Cup and the False-Cup: The flared cup in silver fits into a delicately cut-false cup in arcs of circles. It is adorned in relief with stalks of ear of wheat and stylized leaves standing out on a finely grained background. The interior of the cup features its original gilding in fine gold (vermeil), radiant.
The Knot and the Stem: The cylindrical stem is rhythmically centered by a flattened knot (melon-shaped) richly chased with geometric floral motifs enclosed in diamonds.
