This sculpture depicts the Pietà, with Mary supporting the body of Christ after the crucifixion. She bends protectively over her son and holds his head. Christ lies lifeless on her lap, with one arm extended downward. The portrayal unites Mary's maternal grief with Christ's sacrifice and the redemption of humankind. In the foreground lie the three nails, as a reference to the crucifixion and Christ's suffering.
Height approximately 29 cm; made of plaster with an ivory-colored finish, in good overall condition with signs of aging, local wear, and a restoration at the base.
