The locomotive has a fully metal chassis and body. The model is equipped with a digital decoder with controlled high-power drive; two axles are powered and there are four anti-slip tires. Both cabs and the engine room have an internal interior, and the drive wheels are implemented as Federtopf drive wheels. The built-in cab lighting can be digitally switched per cab with the Control Unit 6021. The headlight is digitally switchable and also works in conventional operation. The power supply is switchable to overhead line operation.
The three Schürzen wagons are equipped with printed train running boards and have roofs with corner cutouts. The coaches are prepared for the installation of electrically conducting coupling systems. All vehicles have Märklin short couplers in NEM sockets.
