Calamites specimen, an elongated fossil on a slate fragment from the Carboniferous period in northern Spain, conserved and restored.
Description from the seller
Calamites (tree-like fern)
Elongated specimen on a rocky fragment of slate.
Carboniferous Period – Northern Spain (≈ 300 million years)
Despite its size, the specimen stands out for the great clarity of the vertical striations of the trunk, clearly visible along the entire surface, which makes it a highly representative piece of the taxon. The relief definition is particularly notable in relation to its size. It still retains much of its own bark from one end to the other.
The piece is preserved in a completely natural state, has not been altered or intervened.
The mounting has been modified, enhancing the lower part where another elongated calamite fragment is present. It was affixed and consolidated with cyanoacrylate. Original patina, it has no kind of polishing or shine.
Compact and stable specimen, ideal as a study piece, for small display cases or as a reference fossil within a Carboniferous flora collection.
Technical data: it is composed of a piece found in a semi-eroded state due to root infiltration and earthy sediments.
Authenticity guaranteed.
Taxon: Calamites
Geological period: Carboniferous
Approximate age: 300 million years
Origin: Northern Spain
Dimensions: 12 cm high × 12 cm wide × 23 cm long
Single piece. Composed of two sections without glued or assembled join.
Shipping will be carried out professionally packed, ensuring its correct preservation during transport.
