AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A truly beautiful and exquisitely preserved so-called Funnel Cup (Funnel Goblet), which should originate from the Potsdam area (or possibly Bohemia) and made between 1690-1720. The glass is engraved around the cup and the foot with floral scenes and, as the highlight, a frame of branches containing a landscape where you see a Putto working with a wine press. To the right of the Putto you can also see a tree with two doves.

Symbolism The making of wine by a putto or putti is a classic motif from Greco-Roman mythology that symbolizes autumn, the harvest, abundance (the horn of plenty) and bacchanals (feasts in honor of Bacchus, the god of wine).
