DESCRIPTION
Interesting devotional icon of Christ Pantocrator, one of the fundamental representations of Eastern Christian iconography.
The figure appears frontal, bearing a book in the left hand while giving the blessing gesture with the right.
The metal cover stands out, worked with reliefs and different textures. This type of cladding was used to ornament and protect certain zones of icons, leaving the painted parts considered essential, especially the face and hands.
The piece also retains its gilded frame, which shows signs of age and use.
CONDITION
Antique piece in age-appropriate condition.
There are signs of wear, patina, small marks, and surface alterations in both the frame and the metal elements.
The photograph has been taken through the glass, so reflections make it difficult to accurately appreciate some details of the painting and the metal cover.
It is recommended to carefully review the photographs as part of the description.
IMPORTANT ABOUT THE MATERIAL
It is not stated that the riza/oklad is silver.
Although many antique pieces of this type were made in silver or gilded silver, there are also numerous examples in brass, copper, alpaca, and other metals, plated or not.
Without photographs of possible stamps, contrasts, or inscriptions, the material should be announced simply as metal. It is sold exactly as shown in the photos.
Approx. 21 cm high x 20 cm wide
