Antique Italian carved and gilt wood frame, dating to 1800–1850, with a Baroque‑and‑eclectic style, measuring 52 x 41 cm external and 38 x 28 cm internal with a 3 cm depth, in good overall condition with minor wear and some gold leaf wear.
Description from the seller
Elegant and refined antique frame of Italian artisanal manufacture, dating from the late eighteenth century to the first half of the nineteenth century. The frame stands out for its wavy and shaped line with raised corners and profiles ("orlicchiata"), typical of Barocchetto eclectic taste.
Entirely hand-carved in solid wood, it features splendid gold leaf gilding. Time has bestowed on the object a magnificent patina, allowing the underlying red bole preparation to surface in several spots, an element that enhances its charm and authenticity.
The back shows genuine period construction with corner joints typical of old carpentry and preserves an original ring-hanging hook for wall mounting. It presents in good structural and overall conservational condition, with slight and physiological signs of aging and very tiny losses of gilding that testify to its antiquity without impairing its aesthetics. An object of great class, ideal to enhance antique paintings, mirrors, or to be displayed as a standalone decorative piece.
