Commemorative 50 Rupees coin minted in 1979 to highlight the importance of women’s education in the rural areas of Nepal. The obverse features an open book accompanied by Nepali inscriptions alluding to literacy and social progress, in an educational and modern composition. The reverse shows the Nepali national emblem surrounded by legends and traditional symbolic elements, reflecting the identity of the Kingdom of Nepal under the reign of Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. The striking exhibits a clean, well-balanced style, with sharp relief and excellent detail definition. The surfaces retain abundant original mint luster, with bright fields and only minor contact marks from handling after minting, fully consistent with the MS66 grade. This issue constitutes an interesting testament to the social development campaigns promoted in Nepal during the second half of the 20th century, when education and literacy became top priorities for the country’s progress.
