1 Piastre coin minted in cupronickel for the Federation of Indochina within the French Union, corresponding to the variant with a milled edge (Reeded Edge). The obverse shows the female allegory of the French Republic facing to the right, holding an ear of rice as a symbol of agriculture and prosperity in the region, with the inscription «UNION FRANÇAISE». The reverse features three ears of rice at the center, accompanied by the face value «1 PIASTRE» and the legend «FÉDÉRATION INDOCHINOISE», all framed by a decorative border. The specimen retains an attractive original satin finish, with sharp relief, clean fields and scarce surface marks, features fully in line with the MS64 grade. Issued in the post-World War II period, this coin belongs to a stage of profound political changes in French Indochina, shortly before the onset of the process that would lead to the disappearance of the French colonial administration in the region.
