Philips Philetta 283Z BD283U – Vintage Tube Radio, ca. 1959

For sale is a charming Philips Philetta 283Z BD283U from around 1959. This compact tube radio features its characteristic ivory-colored Bakelite case, the decorative gold front grille, and the typical late-1950s design.

With its small size of approx. 28.5 × 18 × 16.6 cm, the Philetta is excellent as a stylish collectible and a decorative piece for lovers of vintage and mid-century furnishings.

Condition and function

The housing is overall in a nice, age-appropriate condition. There are light signs of wear that correspond to the age of the radio. Overall, the device presents itself visually very appealing.

The radio has been technically refurbished in the past. On the back, an on/off switch in the form of a toggle switch has been added.

Radio reception works and the device receives good radio stations when the antenna is properly provided. An external antenna is required for reception. An antenna adapter is included. An external antenna is not supplied.

The radio’s illumination currently does not work. The bulbs are probably defective.
