Kosta Boda - Kjell Engman - Tealight holder Sweet Hearts (2) - Crystal glass

Kosta Boda – Set “Sweet Hearts” Votive / Tea Light Candle Holders – design by Kjell Engman (Sweden) – late 20th century

A particularly expressive and now out-of-production set of “Sweet Hearts” tea light holders, designed by the renowned Swedish glass artist Kjell Engman for the prestigious glassworks Kosta Boda.

These sculptural candle holders are characteristic of Engman's playful and emotive design style. The objects are formed as two halves of a heart, where color and transparency together create a lively and poetic effect. In the solid glass, colored ribbons of glass seem to float – a blue accent in the larger holder and a red accent in the smaller – producing the impression of a burning flame captured in crystal-clear glass.

When a tealight is placed inside, the candlelight intensifies the color accents and creates a particularly warm and artistic interplay of light.

The set consists of two different sizes, making them a strong decorative statement both together and separately. The organic forms and the heavy, high-quality glass make these objects not only functional but also small sculptures within the Scandinavian glass art idiom.
