Description from the seller
Elegant Napoleon III period mirror in carved and gilded wood, displaying a lively form characteristic of the Louis XV or Rocaille style, highly sought after during the Second Empire.
The frame stands out for the quality of its solid wood carving, adorned with sinuous moldings, volutes and acanthus spiral motifs. It is crowned by a superb carved pediment with a stylized shell and ends at the bottom with small curved console feet. The gilding presents a very beautiful luminous patina with slight signs of age that highlight its authenticity and its history.
The back of the mirror also bears witness to an old and meticulous manufacture, with its original horizontal engine-turned parquet of raw wooden boards, characteristic of fine joinery techniques of the 19th century.
