"GOGOTTE" Natural geological
Formation formed by quartz sand and crystallized silica, characterized by its more than 30 million years ago - France
Gogotte is the name given to rare and naturally sculpted sandstone formations composed primarily of silica-cemented sand.
These striking geological structures formed approximately 30 million years ago during the Oligocene epoch, in the Fontainebleau region near Paris, France. They were created through a process in which mineral-rich water infused with silica flowed through fine sand, gradually solidifying into smooth, swirling shapes with an almost abstract, sculptural quality.
Highly prized by collectors, designers, and art enthusiasts alike, gogottes are celebrated for their unique, organic aesthetics that evoke modernist and surrealist art. Some exceptional specimens have even been exhibited in world-renowned institutions such as the Louvre Museum.
A gogotte is not just a natural wonder-it's a timeless piece of geological art.
